Single-use plastic water bottles are cheap and convenient. Reusable water bottles can be, too. Though a bottle in the upper twenties, even thirties, seems like an investment compared to a one dollar one, what you’re investing in is the environment, your wallet, and your health.

It’s no secret that plastic bottles litter up our Earth, especially the ocean. By 2050, the ocean is estimated to contain more plastic than fish in weight. U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million tons of discarded plastic water bottles alone. Roughly 1,500 plastic bottles end up as waste in landfills or the ocean every second. Recycling can be a relief to these issues, but lots of plastic goes to landfills instead of being recycled. 91% of plastic isn't recycled and only 1 out of 5 plastic bottles is recycled. The best way to reduce this usage is to reuse a water bottle of quality - which helps your health and savings.

Financially, switching to reusable bottles saves a lot. If you use only plastic water bottles that cost $1, those $1s add up fast. If you buy one every day, that’s $30 a month. Account for bottles that are 2 or 3 dollars, inabilities to refill, going to the movies or a concert - you’re at least $40. Right in one month, you’ve spent even more on individual plastic bottles as one reusable bottle that can last you years. Our Villa Bottles are $24.99. Our 24oz Tumblers are $29.99. It is an investment - and a wise one.

Reusable metal bottles are safer for your health than plastic. The use of BPA (Bisphenol A) in plastic bottles has been reduced since the discovery of its links to cancer, diabetes, and obesity. However, just because a plastic bottle is BPA-free doesn’t mean it’s completely safe. Most plastic bottles are now made with PET (polyethylene terephthalate), which is relatively safe, but should be kept out of the heat to prevent carcinogens like antimony, which can cause dizziness and depression, to leach into liquids. The safest option is a reusable metal bottle, like our stainless steel, which has been proven to stay safe no matter the circumstance.

We recognize that exceptions do apply. Quality water - or any water - isn’t always accessible. Sometimes buying a plastic bottle is the only option - but for those who do have the option -- choose quality. Choose Indigo Falls.
